Changing the narrative on
refugee girls and women

Scroll

Refugee girls and women are so much more than victims of disaster or passive beneficiaries - they are first responders, skilled peace-builders, unwavering advocates, and so much more.

Spearheading #Humanitarian4Her

Recognizing the need for stronger collective advocacy in solidarity with displaced girls and women, I galvanized the humanitarian community around a new hashtag: #Humanitarian4Her. Today, #Humanitarian4Her is used by diverse partners to share their work, solutions, and best practices for meeting the needs of these communities.

Leading digital campaigns that highlight the power of refugee women

In an effort to draw greater attention to the contributions of refugee women, I started the World Refugee Day #Humanitarian4Her Takeovers, an annual campaign where international organizations hand over their social media accounts to refugee women to showcase their overlooked power and activism. Over 30+ organizations participated in #Humanitarian4Her Takeovers in 2018, including leading UN agencies and humanitarian organizations.

Producing creative content to showcase refugee women leaders in action

I set the vision for new content that shows the vital contributions of women in humanitarian action, working with graphic designers, producers, and photographers to execute compelling products like videos, interactive social media campaigns, and more.
